school's out, school's out

well, the monkeys are out (watch out, world). at 1:00 today, the final bell rang for the final day of this school year. as exciting as that sounds, this had to be the most anti-climatic "last day" of my teaching career. the bell rang when i was in the middle of an email, so i, well, just finished my email. sure, i heard the hooping and hollering down the hallway, but i felt numb to it. maybe it's just experience. who knows. but it sure doesn't feel like summer break yet.

contrary to popular belief, though, summer break doesn't mean sitting out by the pool for 2 months. my summer is already jam-packed. one week, i will be at western kentucky university getting certified to teach another AP class (i'll be stuck there on my bday). another week, i'll be in washington dc for a model schools conference (i get to be in dc on july 4th!). another week, i'll be at university of kentucky for dance camp. another day i'll be taking my national boards exam. and the best part is that for another week, i'll be in clear water, florida with jesse, and my cousin, carol, and her husband, chris. :)

so anyway. it's 4:00 on my last day and i'm still in my classroom. time to head out into the sunshine. you may be seeing less of me until august. until then... bon voyage! :)
