violence
i hate violence.
this morning, i had to break up a fight before the first bell even rang.
well, technically, i didn't help break it up. i'm the only person who saw it, and i grabbed a male teacher to break it up while i called the office.
regardless of those details, my day started with a fight. and now my nerves are shot.
every time i see a fight, my hands (yet another idiosyncrasy of mine - my shaking hands) shake violently. i get all jittery and upset. i'm not sure why but it's always been this way. i still have a vivid memory of sitting in wal-mart parking lot as a teenager when a fight broke out. everyone was excited, cheering it on, wanting to see more. i hid in the backseat, and tried not to watch.
after the fight this morning, i heard kids asking who won and bragging about so-and-so's punches. it's something i cannot fathom. the phrase "good fight" is an oxymoron to me. i don't understand how any human being gets joy out of watching someone get hit in the face. to me, it's just one more thing that pops that happy, naive, optimistic bubble in which i choose to live.

hey! remember that time someone's ex boyfriend brought you flowers because they thought you saw them fighting in a parking lot? yeah. whose ex boyfriend was that? hmm... maybe it will come to me later.
I SO agree.
Fighting upsets me so much, and it bothers me that so many people today promote it because they like the adrenaline rush.
If nothing else, I will do everything I can in my small sphere of influence to spread love and not violence of any kind. . .
I'm sure there are groups we can join. . . :)
