love at first sight

sometimes, other people can say things much better than we can say things ourselves. especially when we're trying to express our emotions. our sadnesses, happinesses, loves. things more intricate and beyond words than anything else.
so, this blog isn't going to be my words. it's the words of ol parker, the director of "imagine me and you." the movie is about love at first sight. so, of course, the director has to approach the question: does love at first sight really exist? and maybe it strikes a chord in me because i believe that jesse and i fell in love at first sight. did we know, in that first sight, that it was love? no. but in the moment we met, everything around us shifted. we were drawn to each other in such a way that neither of us comprehended it. and neither of us have been the same since.

First, he defends love at first sight by saying: "the paradox of love at first sight -the way we differentiate it from lust or maybe confusion - is that it proves itself only by continuing to exist...the moment has to be beautiful and life-changing." He says that he fell in love with his wife at first sight. When she walked into the room, he remembers his heart "stopping, then starting again, forever changed." did he look into her eyes and see her soul? it doesn't matter. something happened. everything happened.

in the end, he quotes t.s. eliot. He says "TS Eliot said that we should not over-examine love, not seek to place it 'fixed and sprawling on a pin' - the study of it only devalues the object. It just is. And thank God for that."
