the world as i see it

everybody thinks someone out there wants to know their opinions. their problems. their life story. i guess i'm no different.

late night ramblings

well, i did it. on friday, i became a nationally board certified teacher. i can now put the letters NBCT after my name. it's insane. honestly, it's surreal. i think it's been so long since i worked on it, it's hard to understand that it's over - and i passed. but i passed! go me!

i just got home from prom. yes, prom. not my students' prom - mine. my favorite local bar, blues on tap, held a prom tonight. everyone dressed in their tackiest, old-timey prom dresses and tuxes. the bar was descorated, we had spiked punch, a photographer, and of course, a ballot for prom king and queen. at one point, when everyone was dancing to footloose, i looked around and saw all of these people in their 30s and 40s dressing around in prom attire and i thought - is this really happening? and what in the world would someone who just happened to walk in here think?? it turns out, you're never too old for prom. tonight was fabulous - so much fun!! (even though, just like my real senior prom, i was the only one sober for miles).

life is confusing at times. especially when someone hasn't had sleep in a long time. a true, restful sleep. i'm looking forward to having that tonight.

i totally would've voted for you for prom queen and i would've been standing with you as the only other sober person in the room.
