journalists
twice in the past week, jesse has been told that journalists are just out to "get the big story." that they will fabricate stories or hurt people's feelings just to get that big break or bring in more readership.
from the 4 years i've dated jesse, i know that is absolutely not true, at least not for jesse, or any other journalist i've met along the way, which is many.
often times, journalists don't enjoy breaking that 'big' story. keep in mind, what common readers consider 'big' isn't necessarily breaking news. the story about your wife losing her job isn't a story that's going to propel a journalist's career so fast the New York Times will come knocking on his door. and honestly, besides stirring up the gossip mill for a day, it really won't have much effect on readers. in reality, the journalist probably feels bad for having to be the person to 'break the story,' to write the news that may hurt someone. but it's his job.
like they say, before you criticize or complain, walk a mile in someone else's shoes. it may be totally different than what you expect. you may even gain a greater respect for him/her.
i know i have.
