if this isn't nice, what is?

recently i watched an interview with kurt vonnegut in which he described an uncle whom he called "the good uncle." this uncle thought that humans don't take the time to notice when they're happy. so he would randomly say, in the middle of an afternoon when he was sipping lemonade outside with friends, "well if this isn't nice, what is?" and everyone would realize how happy they were.
so, in tribute to vonnegut... and the good uncle... here is my "if this isn't happy, what is" moments:

this morning on the way to school, the sun was rising and the sky was painted in pink strips. it was friday morning. i was wearing jeans.

at school, a friend of mine surprised me with a blueberry donut from cafe bonet.

last night, after coming home from finding what could possibly be THE wedding gown, jesse tells me that he's trying to picture me in the dress (even though he's clueless what it looks like). then he says he is excited and thinks he'll be like his dad... who frequently says, if he'd known what marriage was going to be like, he wouldn't have waited so long to propose.

just now, after assigning my seniors to write about a moment where they could've said "well if this isn't nice, what is" one says... Ms. Leathers, you're so... so... cool. And she meant it.

If those times aren't nice, what is?
