in high school...
it seems like several references to the 'good ole days' from high school have come up lately. it makes me look back on how drastically my life has changed since i was a vulnerable, naive high school student.
when i was in high school...
my best friend was angie leake. she was a basketball player who would party on the weekends. i was a goody-goody who had to be a 'manager' for the basketball team and barely had the hand-eye coordination to hand them water bottles without spilling it. we had absolutely nothing in common, except for the fact that we treasured each other's friendship. she was my lifeline.
i had a crush on so many guys from the year behind me. they were cute, athletic, and fun guys, and i never felt like "good enough" for them. now they are some of my closest friends.
i told my senior english teacher that i was going to take her job some day. i had no idea that i really would - and that i would love it as much as i do. and that she would be my lifelong mentor.
i was a self-conscious, insecure girl who hated talking in front of a crowd. i felt like the 'screech' of the popular crowd. now, i talk in front of a crowd for a living.
i worried too much. i cared too much. i loved too much. these things have no changed one bit.
