the world as i see it

everybody thinks someone out there wants to know their opinions. their problems. their life story. i guess i'm no different.

school's out...

my school was out on thursday and friday due to the flu - our attendance was so poor that we had to cancel. several people who saw me on wednesday night smirked and muttered, 'must be nice to be a teacher' or 'i knew i chose the wrong profession.'

for all of you out there who were disgruntled because you thought i was lying around in bed while you were out in the cold - welcome to my reality.

i spent both days hard at work. on school work. and this is me, on sunday afternoon, still working. the desks may have been empty but the work didn't go away.

my reward for this work? the other day, i assigned an on-demand to my sophomores - they were supposed to write a letter to another student, explaining what it takes to give a good presentation. one student wrote an entire, page-long letter on "why you shouldn't take ms. leathers' class."

niiiice.

anyway - gotta run - there's a stack of papers calling on my name.

NOT FUNNY, GLENN!
he was mad because i wouldn't let him go to the bathroom. he'd been sleeping before that - but he claimed he was just "closing his eyes"

If I got an entire hand-written page with little to no mechanical or punctuation errors, then that student would have gotten a great grade! Disagree with me all you want; as long as you write something that qualifies for a Distinguished paper. Alas, I am sure this literature giant probably was at best a High-Novice! Just your luck, he is mad at you and can't write...hum, maybe he should pay more attention!
