the world as i see it

everybody thinks someone out there wants to know their opinions. their problems. their life story. i guess i'm no different.

i don't wanna workout, i have too many things to do: workout tip #1

recently i have been desperate for the motivation to work out. i thought getting engaged would be all the motivation i needed, but i was wrong. i resented the idea that i was expected to add yet another thing on my already-overflowing to do list (which "wedding planning" had recently adorned). i tried getting a friend involved, someone who would push me. that didn't work. i tried joining the gym, thinking i wouldn't let myself spend the money and not use it. that didn't work.

finally, jesse's friend clay jackson said something that clicked in me. he was talking about running and he said that he saw it as "his time." he turned off his phone and turned on his ipod and for 30 minutes or an hour or however long he ran, it was just him - no outside stress or demands. and it helped lower his stress level when it was time to face the outside world.

now THAT'S something i can look forward to: time for me and time to destress.

clay said that to me on Sunday and for the past two days, I have looked forward to working out and have actually enjoyed it. i just had to change my mentality.
